Beginning Tribal Belly Dance - FCBD®Style is an enjoyable method of improvisational choreography, using a vocabulary of natural movements and cues allowing the dancers to communicate via gesture and eye contact when dancing together as a group, allowing each person to lead when they feel ready. FCBD®Style is a fusion dance form. The movements are inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Spain, and India. It is a uniquely modern creation that does not represent an “authentic” dance from any particular region. We work with you on posture, body consciousness and self-confidence. Moderate and self-paced this class is gender friendly. Yoga style clothing preferred; Tight fitting top, leggings long 25+ yard or full circle skirt recommended, but not necessary.) Bare feet or dance shoes. Bring your own water.

Trusts can be one of the most useful and cost-effective legal tools to help people maintain control over their assets during good health, illness and at death—without court costs or delays. Unfortunately, most people, including financial advisors, only think of trusts in terms of saving estate taxes. While this is one benefit of trusts, trusts can also provide many more protections such as shielding inheritances for beneficiaries with failed marriages, bad judgment, creditors, or special needs or those with business interests. This workshop gives an overview of how trusts work, the pros and cons and costs, when to consider using trusts and what should be included in the trust provisions. It covers the Trust Protections Spectrum™ and various asset protection options trust can provide during the trustmaker’s and beneficiaries’ lifetimes.

Longer lifespans mean that, statistically, adult children will spend as much time caring for aging parents as they do for their own children. They both face many challenges as they deal with the emotional, financial and legal aspects of long-term care decisions. These decisions straddle several different arenas that have competing rules and families can face unnecessary emotional and financial costs when they make the “wrong” decision because they did not understand their options. This workshop provides an overview of the factors families should consider for the care and safety of their parents and their assets while protecting the child from parental debts. It covers the essential directives families should have in place to ensure agents are authorized to act for the parent and addresses Medicare and Medicaid rules, care management, guardianship and other factors that can arise when a parent declines mentally or physically.

Much attention is given to estate taxes as a threat to what can be passed on to beneficiaries and, over the last several years, most families are less concerned about estate taxes due to the higher exemptions on federal estate taxes. What many families fail to see is that, with average annual costs between $60,000 to $75,000, long term care costs have always been a larger threat to their lifetime security and to the estate they leave for beneficiaries at death. These costs will increase over time as the cost of care increases with inflation. Few families can cover such costs out of disposable income and resources. This workshop covers the main methods of covering long term care costs, the strategies to maximize private and public resources and the directives every family should have in place to make sure they can act if a disability or death should strike.

(Based on the book of the same name) This workshop will provide an overview of the fundamentals every family needs to consider when planning for the future of a person with special needs. Attendees will learn about federal disability programs; guardianships; wills, trusts, and the essential legal directives the family must have as well as the consequences of failing to formally plan; how to keep the plan current; and the reasons for “letters of instruction”. Attendees will understand the types of advisors to consult, what to ask and how to organize information to ensure their plan will take care of the future needs of the special needs loved one.

Between 40-50% of married couples in the U.S. today are “blended families” where at least one of the partners has children from a prior relationship. While the estate planning tools traditional and blended families rely on might be the same, blended families must take extra care because traditional planning approaches can backfire on blended couples such as with risks of inadvertently disinheriting prior beneficiaries, pitting a step-parent against prior children in terms of who has authority and who and how each is kept informed, and increasing potential litigation and heartache. This program gives an overview of how traditional planning works and where it doesn’t work well for the unique needs of blended families.
