Camp-Can-Do is a unique and innovative approach to providing educational and recreational opportunities for youth with special needs ages 5 to 13 during the summer months. This eight-week program is geared toward educating youth on a variety of positive and socially appropriate pursuits, as well as providing a high level of supervision for fun summer activities. Throughout the summer we hope to encourage each child’s talents to grow. Camp Can-Do campers will participate in adapted recreational activities like art, music, reading, language skills, speech, socialization, swimming, field trips and special events. A $20 non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration. The Camp Can-Do program runs Mondays through Thursdays in four two-week sessions. No camp 6/19, 7/4

Progress with Chess - Beginning students will master the rules and moves of the pieces, basic strategy and checkmates. More experienced players will explore openings, endgames, tactics and checkmate patterns. Activities include a healthy mixture of interactive lessons and supervised open play. A short recess is scheduled in the morning and afternoon with opportunities for physical exercise. Lunch and free time will be from noon to 1pm daily.

Minds in Motion LLC - Build and take home your very own CyberCrawler Robot! This smart coding robotics kit entertains and teaches programming skills to inquisitive, young, future robotic engineers! With the aid of your instructor, you will each assemble your own robot that consists of 76 pieces. Once completed, a simple press-button programming keypad embedded on its cranium will send your CyberCrawler on its way! You can design obstacles and maze courses with your classmates and see how far you can go. With a maximum storage capacity of 64 tasks, your CyberCrawler Robot will be a terrific starter tool to learn the joy of coding! Minds in Motion LLC - If you like to create and build things, this program is for you! Take home your very own engineering kit! You will build up to 8 working models including a material lift, stationary bike, crane bridge, construction crane, and a windmill! With the aid of your instructor and the easy-to-follow manual, you will learn different scientific principles involving pulleys and mechanics. You will also learn about basic circuits as you construct a Maze Challenge, Flying Disc, Turbo Air, and Alarm System with our STEM Lab kit! As future engineers, the STEM lab will teach you how to comprehend a schematic diagram and interpret the flow of electricity. Design your own diagrams and watch your confidence soar as you transform wires, springs, and plastic parts into fully functioning circuits. Come obtain the necessary skills and experience to take on the technological challenges of the future!

Minds in Motion LLC - Come join an exciting world of space exploration as you build and take home your very own Solar System Kit! You will assemble your own model, learn all about our planetary neighborhood, and watch the planets move around the sun powered by battery or solar power. Check out our real meteorite fragment samples! Take part in other exciting activities involving physics, air pressure, and density. Take home your own cosmic rocket and watch it shoot up fifty feet into the air! Be mesmerized as you assemble and take home your own stunt plane and learn about the four major forces of flight. You will also witness some really neat demonstrations from your instructor. Watch as an egg is magically sucked into a bottle, behold a tornado being created, and much much more in this fun and exciting program!

Minds in Motion LLC - Build and take home your very own Agent992 Robot! This smart undercover robotics kit will entertain and teach infra-red capabilities to inquisitive minds. It consists of 140 assembly pieces and is equipped with an infrared radar so it can capture its surrounding conditions! A classified press-button switch instructs your Agent992 Robot to transform into 3 investigative modes: Forward mode, Gesture Control mode, and Auto Navigation mode. Forward mode executes basic forward direction where its eyes turn red. Use your hand’s forward and backward motion to guide your robot when Gesture Control mode is activated, and its eyes turn blue. Compete with your classmates by designing obstacles or maze courses! Minds in Motion LLC - Come join our Minds In Motion Crime Team in this fun and interesting program! We will provide you with all the tools you need to become your very own crime scene investigator. Learn all about forensics, searching for evidence, and gathering clues and bring home your very own detective kit! Working in groups, you will conduct many science experiments in our crime lab to solve the mysteries at hand. You will learn all about fingerprinting and how to classify them and bring home your very own fingerprint classification sheet! You will also perform chemical analyses and observations working with powders, liquids, and much much more! Be amazed at how much science plays a part in solving a crime. Minds in Motion LLC - Build and take home your very own powerful robotic bulldozer and sleek handheld wireless controller! With your own colored manual and the aid of your instructor, you will each assemble your Robo Dozer that consists of over 40 different robotic parts that includes a speaker, circuit board, motors, LED lights, and much more. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of tracked vehicles as well as examples of robots with continuous tracks. Use the controller to command your robot to move around in all directions, play sounds, and light up its cab roof lights! The special Code and Control wireless unit enables you to either directly control your Robo Dozer in real time, or write and save sequences of commands for the robot to perform at the push of a button. Once completed, you can try a few experiments with your new Code and Control Robo Dozer and compete with your fellow classmates!

This three day camp offers the opportunity to see what it takes to be a member of the Rangerette and flag lines in the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band. Each participant will gain experience developing conditioning, flexibility, dance techniques, and flag maneuvers. The camp will culminate with a performance of the Lakewood Fight Song and one additional routine - with the marching band playing live! All participants are invited to perform with the band during the season at homecoming on Oct. 6.

Children will step back in time to become children of the 1800’s. By learning to cook, experiencing pioneer school, playing historic games, and working on exciting crafts, participants will have fun learning how Ohio early settlers lived. The Old Stone House, located in Lakewood Park, will be used daily through the courtesy of the Lakewood Historical Society and Stone House Society volunteers. This program is for students who are going into third, fourth, fifth or sixth grade.

Learn to skateboard and meet new friends! Skateboard camps teach how to skateboard, how to take care of your board and basic skatepark etiquette. You will learn proper ways to push, turn and start and stop safely as well as how to fall with minimal impact. Each skater progresses a their own pace in a group setting with mostly ages 7-12 years old. Camp is operated by Public Square Group skate counselors with a 1 to 4 ratio. All ages over 7 welcome! Your skateboard should turn easily; good bearings and quality trucks will make learning easier. Use your own board or sign up for lessons + skateboard and receive a new skateboard to keep. Skateboard/BMX style helmet that covers the back of your had (not cycling helmet), wrist guards are strongly recommended as are knee and elbow pads but not required. Class limit is 12.
