This five-week series is all about teaching tweens (ages 9 -13) how to care for their body, mind and spirit! Holistic Health Coach Shannon Sabol of Grateful Life Health Coaching + Yoga will be explaining what holistic health is (the WHOLE of who you are…beyond just diet and exercise), and include topics such as brain science, meditation, anxiety and stress reduction through breathing exercises, movement, nutrition, sleep, and how to create sustainable healthy habits that support self care. Each class will include a short yoga practice and health lecture to follow. Please have your child bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes to practice in. Private music lessons will once again be available for students at Lakewood City Schools through the Lakewood Recreation Department. Please contact your music teacher with additional questions.
General Information
All band, choir, and orchestra students are eligible to take private lessons, 30-minute lessons. All private lesson teachers are selected and hired by the music staff at Lakewood City Schools. These instructors have extensive experience both teaching and performing. For the 2023-2024 school year, all lessons will take place in person. If you prefer Zoom lessons, contact your teacher directly. It is expected that students will take one lesson a week until they have completed all of the registered lessons.
Scheduling (day and time) of lessons will be managed by each individual private teacher. Please expect an email from your teacher to schedule lessons. Unattended lessons without prior notification will not be made up. Exceptions are made for emergency situations.

- Registration occurs online through the Recreation Department website (see link above)
- Families receiving a scholarship MUST register themselves for lessons after they have received confirmation of their approved aid. This MUST be done by calling the Recreation Department and talking to Sharon Mathaios between 8 am - 4 pm, M-F. (216-529-4081).
- Previous balances must be paid before a student may register for more lessons.
Scholarships
Scholarships to help pay for private lessons and are available both for middle school and high school students. The deadline to apply for both is Aug. 30. Application links: Middle School Students, High School Students Scholarships help to support both the financial needs of families and the needs of ensembles. Those students switching to an instrument needed in the ensemble will be given extra consideration.

Program Summary:

With constant improvement students can start to learn a weapon after a brief meeting with the student and parents that is required prior to any student being taught anything with the weapon.
